Recorded remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, 'Skin Theory' is a collaboration between musician/artist Tom Pountney and musician/producer Joe Ockford. The album presents an idiosyncratic sound-concept, blending influences from rock, trip-hop, electronic and contemporary classical music.

For Pountney—who has ADHD and ASD—the project was a valuable outlet during a period of research on neurodiversity and identity. Soothing, textural ventures (‘Snowzelen’, ‘Postcard’) reflect on personal experience with sensory difficulties, while haunting and abrasive cuts (‘Skin Theory’, ‘CC-7S’) rework transcripts of Facilitated Communication* to explore larger issues of pseudoscience and systemic ignorance.
